Heavy duty cable cutters are designed to cleanly cut through large electrical cables made of copper or aluminium. They’re ideal for use in solar, automotive, marine, and industrial applications where thick battery or power cables need to be trimmed to length.

Most heavy duty cutters can cut cables ranging from 10mm² up to 120mm² (depending on the model). Always check the tool’s rated capacity to ensure it suits your specific cable size and material type.

No. Heavy duty cable cutters are designed for soft metals like copper and aluminium only. Using them on steel wire, fencing, or braided cable can damage the cutting blades. For those materials, use a dedicated steel wire cutter.

Heavy duty cable cutters provide greater leverage and sharper, precision-ground blades, resulting in smooth, deformation-free cuts even on thick cables. This ensures better crimping and electrical contact when fitting lugs or terminals.

Yes. Heavy duty cutters are portable and manually operated, making them perfect for on-site installations such as solar, caravan, or battery system setups where clean, reliable cable cuts are essential.

Keep the blades clean, sharp, and lightly oiled to prevent rust and maintain cutting efficiency. Avoid twisting while cutting, and store the tool in a dry place or protective case to extend its service life.
