A solar fuse connector is used to provide inline overcurrent protection between solar panels and a solar charge controller. It helps protect your cabling, regulator, and batteries from short circuits and reverse current, making it an essential safety component in camping, caravan, 4WD, and off-grid solar systems.

Solar fuse connectors are typically installed between the solar panel and the charge controller, often on the positive solar cable. In systems with multiple panels, they’re commonly used on each panel string to prevent reverse current flow from other panels or the battery bank.

Solar fuse connectors are compatible with 12V, 24V, and high-voltage solar panels, including both portable and fixed panel installations. They’re designed to work with MPPT and PWM solar regulators, provided the connector and fuse rating match the system’s voltage and current requirements.

Choose a fuse rating that’s slightly higher than the panel’s maximum operating current, but below the cable’s current rating. For example, a panel with an 8A operating current would typically use a 10A or 15A fuse. Always check your panel specifications and regulator limits to ensure safe and compliant protection.
