Pack Contents

25 x bellmouth copper cable lugs, 70 mm², M6 stud
Price is per pack of 25

Features

Supplied in a convenient pack of 25
Bellmouth barrel entry makes fine-stranded flexible cable easy to insert without splayed strands
Made from 99.9% pure, fully annealed copper so it crimps without cracking
Electro-tin plated for corrosion resistance
Inspection hole to confirm the cable is fully inserted
Complies with AS/NZS 4325 Part 1

Where to use it

Tinned copper cable lugs terminate 70 mm² copper cable onto an M6 stud or bolt, such as battery terminals, busbars, isolators, fuse holders, inverters and chargers. Crimped correctly they give a low-resistance, high-current connection that stays tight under vibration. Ideal for 12V, 24V and 48V DC systems in 4WDs, caravans, boats and off-grid solar and battery installs. The pack of 25 is ideal for larger jobs or keeping spares on hand.

Match two things: the cable size in mm² (for example 16mm² or 50mm²) and the stud or bolt size it fits over (for example M8). The cable size must match the lug barrel exactly so the crimp grips every strand, and the stud size should match your terminal so the lug sits flat and tight.

A bellmouth lug has a flared, funnel-shaped barrel entry. It makes it easy to insert fine-stranded flexible cable, which tends to splay after stripping, without strands catching outside the barrel. A standard (straight barrel) lug has a plain entry and suits regular stranded cable.

Use a lug crimper sized for the cable, such as a hexagonal or indent crimping tool. Hex crimpers give an even, all-round compression that suits tinned copper lugs. Hammer crimpers and pliers give inconsistent crimps that can heat up under high current.

Tin plating protects the copper from oxidation and corrosion, keeping a low-resistance connection over time. It is especially useful in damp, salty or high-humidity environments such as caravans, boats and outdoor battery boxes.
